GTA 6 and GTA RP: What It Means for FiveM Servers
Contents
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026. And across the RP community, one question keeps popping up: is GTA RP about to leave GTA 5 and FiveM behind? Should you give up on your favorite city, or your own server if you run one?
Short answer: no, not anytime soon. Here's why, with what's official kept separate from what's just rumor.
What's actually confirmed
- GTA 6 launches Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar locked in the date after two delays, with pre-loading starting November 12.
- No PC version has been announced. No date, no release window, nothing official.
- Rockstar owns the team behind FiveM. In August 2023, Cfx.re, the creators of FiveM and RedM, joined Rockstar Games. At the time, Cfx.re said the partnership was focused on FiveM and RedM, meaning GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
- No "FiveM for GTA 6" has been announced. Not by Rockstar, not by Cfx.re.
Why GTA RP is staying on FiveM for now
FiveM is PC-only. GTA RP as we know it, with community cities, custom scripts, in-game economies and server-specific rules, runs entirely on the PC version of GTA 5.
As long as GTA 6 is console-only, there's simply no technical foundation for running that kind of RP server on it.
Rockstar's track record says be patient, too. GTA 5 reached PC about a year and a half after its console launch. Red Dead Redemption 2 took around a year. There are rumors of a GTA 6 PC release in 2027, but nothing is confirmed.
Bottom line: for at least the next several months, and probably longer, GTA RP lives on FiveM, on GTA 5.
FiveM isn't being abandoned, quite the opposite
If Rockstar planned to drop FiveM, you'd see the signs. Instead, it's the other way round:
- Cfx.re keeps developing the platform.
- Since July 21, 2026, FiveM for GTA V Enhanced has been available in early access, bringing the remastered version of the game to servers ready to make the jump.
- The classic version, FiveM Legacy, keeps running as usual. It's still what most servers use.
That's not what a dying platform looks like.
What it actually means for you
If you're a player
- Your city isn't shutting down on November 19. You don't have to choose between GTA 6 and your RP server.
- Expect quieter cities for a few weeks. Lots of RP players will be busy with GTA 6's story on console. Some cities will be calmer than usual, and that's fine.
- It's actually a great time to apply to a whitelisted city. With fewer people around, applications often get reviewed faster. Still undecided? Our guide on how to pick a GTA RP server on FiveM will help you narrow it down.
If you run a city
- Don't panic. Your community lives on GTA 5, and it's not going anywhere.
- Plan for the late-November dip. An in-city event, a new season or a script update right after launch can help keep players engaged.
- Don't promise a "GTA 6 server". No official tools exist for that today. Advertising a GTA 6 RP server means promising something nobody can deliver.
- Keep an eye on Enhanced. That's the real technical project for FiveM servers right now.
So what about RP on GTA 6?
Nobody knows yet. Rockstar has clearly shown interest in roleplay by acquiring Cfx.re, but hasn't announced anything specific for GTA 6: no RP platform, no community servers, no modding tools.
Be wary of videos and articles announcing a "FiveM 6" or a specific date. Until Rockstar or Cfx.re say so, it's speculation. We'll update this article as soon as there's real news.

FAQ
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Not for now. Rockstar has only announced PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for November 19, 2026. No PC version has an official date.
Will there be a FiveM for GTA 6?
Nothing has been announced. Rockstar owns Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM, but no RP project for GTA 6 has been made official.
Will GTA RP die when GTA 6 comes out?
No. GTA RP runs on the PC version of GTA 5 and on FiveM, which is still being actively developed. Until GTA 6 hits PC, nothing can replace today's servers.
Can you roleplay in GTA 6 on console?
Not the way you do on FiveM. Community RP servers with their own scripts don't exist on console.
