FiveM is a modification framework for GTA V on PC that lets you play on community-run servers. Most of them have little in common with GTA Online: roleplay cities with jobs, police and courts, racing and drift servers, or rule-free freeroam. To play, you need GTA V on PC and the FiveM client.
Most FiveM servers are roleplay servers. Serious RP means staying in character at all times and often comes with a whitelist — an application on Discord, sometimes an interview, before you're let into the city. Semi-RP is more relaxed and easier to get into. Other servers are all about action: PvP, gangs, racing, drifting or stunts. Under the hood, servers run frameworks like ESX or QBCore plus their own scripts for jobs, vehicles, housing and in-game phones, all downloaded automatically when you connect.
Work out what level of roleplay you want and in which language, then check whether there's a whitelist, how good the description and Discord look, and what the rules say. On a whitelisted server, set aside some time for the application: it's also a good sign of how seriously the community takes roleplay. Check the server's time zone too, since most activity happens in the evening. If you're after an English FiveM RP server, the language filter helps you skip communities you can't play in. TOPSPAWN rankings come from player votes: vote without an account, once every two hours per server, and add your in-game name if there are rewards. Running your own city? List your server for free from your account; it's published once approved. For roleplay cities, the GTA RP servers page brings them together.
Filter by game mode (Roleplay, RP Serious, Drift, Racing, Freeroam) and language. For roleplay, the GTA RP servers page lists the RP cities. The ranking is based on community votes.
