ARK: Survival Evolved is the survival game where you tame dinosaurs to build bases and clash with rival tribes. Not to be confused with ARK: Survival Ascended (the remaster) — both have separate community scenes. TOPSPAWN mostly lists Survival Evolved servers right now.

In ARK you wake up with nothing on an island full of dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures. You learn to tame them, breed them and use them to gather resources, defend yourself or go on the attack. The game really comes alive with other people: on an ARK server, tribes organise themselves, share bases and creatures, and sometimes go to war with other tribes.
Servers mostly differ by their rates — gathering, experience, taming and breeding speed. An x1 server keeps the slow pace of the original game; x5 or x10 servers let you progress much faster, which helps if your playtime is limited. The rest comes down to mode: PvE to build and explore without fear of raids, or PvP for tribe wars, usually with rules about offline raiding. Some networks link several maps into a cluster so you can travel between them with your creatures, and many run mods. Note that ARK: Survival Ascended, the remastered edition, uses its own servers, separate from Survival Evolved. Make sure the server matches the edition you own.
Before you join, check the game version, the rates, PvE or PvP, the tribe size limit and the wipe policy. A community that speaks your language and an active Discord make the early hours much easier. On PvP servers, also check the rules on alliances between tribes, which change how wars play out. ARK servers on TOPSPAWN are ranked by player votes: vote without an account, once every two hours per server. Running an ARK server? List it for free from your account — it goes live once approved.
The most active ARK servers tend to be PvE Cluster Boosted (X10 / X25) and PvP with strict anti-toxicity rules. On TOPSPAWN, filter by language and sort by votes to spot the busy ones.
ARK Survival Evolved is the original 2017 game with a massive community base and a huge Steam Workshop mod catalog. ARK Survival Ascended is the Unreal Engine 5 remaster from 2023. The two games have separate community servers — TOPSPAWN currently focuses on Survival Evolved.
Rates multiply the vanilla values: taming, harvest, XP, egg laying. X1 = vanilla / hardcore. X10 = casual, great for evening play. X25+ = heavily boosted for fast progression. Each server usually lists its rates in its description.
