Rust doesn't forgive: you spawn naked on a beach, gather, build and defend your base against players who want exactly what you want. Anything you build can be raided, which is what makes every wipe memorable. The Rust server you pick decides the pace, the difficulty and the kind of players you'll meet.
The first thing to look at is the wipe. Every server is reset at least once a month, on the first Thursday, when the game updates; many also wipe the map weekly or every two weeks, sometimes along with blueprints (BP wipe). Then comes the server type: vanilla for the intended experience, modded with x2, x5 or x10 gather rates to speed things up, and group limits (solo, duo, trio) that keep fights fair. You'll also find PvE servers, beginner-friendly servers and combat-only servers with no building.
Check the wipe day and frequency, the gather rate, the allowed group size and the community's language before you commit — a fresh wipe is the best time to join. If you play alone or with one friend, a solo/duo server spares you from facing large clans. Check the server's location as well: high ping makes close-range fights in Rust a lot harder. On modded servers, read the plugin list too: kits, teleports or shops change the game a lot. On TOPSPAWN, wipe dates appear on a server's page when the server provides them. Our Rust server list is ranked by player votes: vote without an account, once every two hours per server. Running a Rust server? List it for free from your account; it goes live once approved.
On TOPSPAWN, filter Rust servers by type (Vanilla, Modded, Solo/Duo, PvE, Battlefield) and language. The ranking is based on real community votes.
