Conan Exiles drops you into the world of Conan the Barbarian: an exile left for dead in a hostile desert who has to survive, build, take thralls and face both monsters and other players. On a Conan Exiles server, clans raise fortresses, head out on expeditions and, depending on the rules, fight over the land.
Servers come in three main flavours: PvE, where players can't attack each other; PvE-Conflict, which allows fights between players but protects buildings; and PvP, where bases can be raided, often within set raid hours. Harvest and experience rates change the pace a lot, from slow survival to boosted servers. Conan Exiles also has a big roleplay community, with immersion rules, staff-written events and sometimes applications. Many servers run mods, downloaded from the Steam Workshop when you join.
Decide which mode suits you, then check the map (the Exiled Lands or the Isle of Siptah), the rates, the raid hours and the mod list. If roleplay is what you're after, read the server's lore and character rules first — RP servers usually expect you to create a character that fits their world. Look at how active the Discord is and how long the server has been running. On PvP servers, also ask about the rules for building near resources and monuments. TOPSPAWN rankings come from player votes: vote without an account, once every two hours per server, and add your in-game name if there are rewards. Running a server? List it for free from your account; it's published once approved.
The most active Conan Exiles servers tend to be PvE-C (timed raid windows) and medieval RP. On TOPSPAWN, filter by language and mode (PvE / PvP / PvE-C / RP) to find a community that fits your style.
Exiled Lands (2018) is the original map — a vast hostile desert with many bosses. Isle of Siptah (DLC, 2020) is a denser island with a Maelstrom system: a weekly storm spawning special enemies and rare loot. The two maps often coexist on community servers.
PvE-C (PvE Conflict) is a middle ground: you play PvE most of the time (no raids), but PvP is enabled during specific time windows (often evenings). It's a favourite for players who want duels without losing their base while sleeping.
